Appointments & Fees

We understand the need for flexible appointment times. We offer meeting times to fit your needs, including evenings and Saturdays. If you would like to discuss your legal situation, please contact us to request a consultation.

Reasonable & Transparent Billing

At Inspire Law, we also understand your concerns about maintaining reasonable and transparent legal costs.  Typically, the legal services we provide are billed at our regular hourly rates. For some commonly provided and straight-forward legal services, we may simply charge a flat fee.  It depends upon what each individual case requires. For example, when preparing demand letters to employers on behalf of employees, we may charge a flat fee, or a flat fee and a percentage. In the right case, when acting on behalf of employees, we may be willing to consider a contingency fee retainer agreement, under which we will not collect fees until you collect fair compensation.

Once an agreement is made between you and the lawyer to engage legal services, we will sign a retainer agreement outlining the terms upon which we will provide services to you. We will always discuss payment and costs associated with your particular case with you prior to entering into a retainer agreement.

Our office accepts cheques, interac e-transfer, and in some circumstances cash as payment for services.

New Clients

On your first visit with us, please bring your government issued photo identification, as you will be required to complete a client identification and verification form (as is required by Law Societies).  The brief time within which consultations occur do not permit us to conduct a comprehensive review of your documentation. However, it is still helpful to bring with you any documentation you think could be relevant to your case. This is because we may wish to quickly review certain critical clauses or excerpts from your documents during the consultation.

We also recommend that you prepare a written chronology or outline, describing the background and identifying the facts and documents that are relevant to your inquiry.  This allows us to respond more efficiently to your inquiry.  The written chronology may also be useful to reference to recall events and important discussions which had occurred.  Written statements made at the time, or immediately following the event may also be helpful in subsequent proceedings.

Once an agreement is made between you and the lawyer to engage legal services, we will sign a retainer agreement outlining the terms upon which we will provide services to you.

Our office accepts cheques, cash and interac e-transfer as payment for services.

Flexible Appointment Times

At Inspire Law, we understand how quickly a work day can fly by! Can’t find time to book an appointment?  We offer appointments to fit your needs, including appointments on evenings and Saturdays. If you want to meet with us, please contact us first to request a consultation.

Fees

Typically, the legal services we provide are billed at our regular hourly rates. We will of course discuss this with you prior to entering into a retainer agreement.

At Inspire Law, we understand your concerns about maintaining legal costs at a reasonable level. That is why, for certain commonly provided legal services, rather than charge an hourly rate, we may charge a flat fee.  This allows you to have certainty right from the beginning as to your legal fees.

For example, when preparing demand letters to employers on behalf of employees, we may charge a flat fee and a percentage of the (additional) amount recovered. In the right case, when acting on behalf of employees, we may be willing to consider a contingency fee retainer agreement, under which we will not collect fees until you collect fair compensation.

Consultations

Due to the high volume of requests we receive, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to respond to every request.  We accept only a small number of cases at a time. If we do not take on your case, it is likely simply because our case load is full at that time.  If you request a consultation, we typically do our best to reply within two to four weeks, though it is not possible for us to reply to all requests.

In addition, please understand that we do not represent you unless and until a retainer agreement is signed, describing the terms of our relationship.

Until such time as that occurs, you should continue to pursue other alternatives, particularly if your legal needs are urgent.  Please provide as full and complete information as possible.
